● This position will be the focal point of our systems integration of computer, storage and networking in UMIACS. They will work closely with the technical staff to administer and operate the Institute’s technical capacity to meet the dynamic systems requirements for our faculty, labs and centers.
● Required to support our workload management software and its cluster integration.
● Will be responsible for our virtualization stack of both open source and commercial virtualization platforms.
● Supporting our open source or commercial data storage systems.
● Contribute to supporting our help desk infrastructure with operational hours overseeing the desk.

● Bachelor’s degree, by Jan. 1, 2020, in Computer Science or a related field.
● 3 years’ experience in Linux engineering or administration.
● Experience in open source configuration management platforms (Puppet, Chef, Salt, etc).
● Expertise with both commercial (VMware, HyperV) and open source (KVM) based hypervisors, both support and deployment.
● Experience in multiple storage platforms, both open source and commercial.
● Experience in a multi-vendor networking infrastructure.
● Experience working in a team environment.
● Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication, organization, and management skills.

● Workload management software experience with experience in SLURM a plus.
● Specific experience with ZFS, DellEMC Isilon and DellEMC Compellent data storage systems.
● Expertise in administering Red Hat based systems and technologies (RHEL, RHEV, Satellite, etc.)
● Understanding and expertise in host and network level security.

Must be able to type, read a computer screen, and converse (listen to and speak with) with customers and fellow IT staffers. Must be able to lift, twist, and bend in order to be able to move computer equipment.
