              Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

              This position will operationally ensure that our data holdings, from host to network to backups, are functionally available. Employee will work with other technical staff members to ensure our storage infrastructure can meet the demanding performance and availability of our research programs. Employee will also be responsible for:
              ● Data management, tuning and migration support for our host and network based file systems.
              ● Support for both our open source and commercial backup systems.
              ● Performing basic network administration add, move and change tasks in our edge and data center networks.
              ● Contributing to supporting our help desk infrastructure with operational hours overseeing the desk.

              Minimum Qualifications:

              ● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field earned by Jan. 1, 2020
              ● 2 years’ experience in Linux administration
              ● Expertise in administration of open source file system administration
              ● Proficiency in large scale data migrations
              ● Work experience in an open source or commercial backup system
              ● Expertise in add/moves/changes in a network infrastructure system
              ● Experience working in a team environment
              ● Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication, organization, and management skills.

              Preferences:

              ● Experience in IBM Spectrum Protect (Tivoli Storage Manager)
              ● Experience in a multi-vendor network infrastructure
              ● Experience in administration of parallel or distributed file systems
              ● Understanding and expertise in host and network level security.

              Physical Demands

              This job exists in a mostly sedentary environment. Employee must be able to sit for long periods of time, type, read a computer screen, and converse (listen to and speak with) with customers and fellow IT staffers. Must be able to lift, twist, and bend in order to be able to move computer equipment.
