              Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

              The incumbent will be responsible for the physical security of the ARLIS staff, visitors/affiliates, physical plant and for the classified materials and equipment used and stored within the ARLIS building.

              Minimum Qualifications:

              EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED equivalent

              EXPERIENCE: Must possess a stable work history with progressively responsible experience. Experience with the operation and use of CCTV, computerized alarm and access control systems. Previous experience working in a totally secure environment is preferred.

              U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation with full scope polygraph. Valid Maryland Non-commercial Class C or equivalent driver’s license will be required.


              Incumbent must be able to follow oral and written instructions and be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
              Ability to learn and use laptop, desktop and other specialized computer systems configured for security operations.
              Be able to communicate with and assist emergency response teams from the supporting police and fire departments in incident/emergency response situations.
              Be able to operate two-way communications devices, cell phones and desk phones.

              Additional Certifications:

              Current or active US Government TS/SCI CLEARANCE REQUIRED

              Physical Demands

              Must be able to sit or stand either inside or outside (e.g. – perimeter gatehouse) for extended periods while maintaining a high level of vigilance and attention to detail.
              Must be able to perform inspections both inside (e.g. – desk checks) and outside of facility (exterior building and grounds; this occasionally requires visual checks under raised floors and above ceilings.
              Must be able to spend long periods of time standing and walking when escorting uncleared visitors or similar access-control related duties.
              Must be able to perform data entry and security-related computer-based tasks for significant periods of time.
              Must be able to drive (primarily in the local DMV geographic area) in all weather conditions.
              Must be able to respond to visual and auditory alarms and other indicators of emergency situations within the time and response parameters outlined in the appropriate DCIDs, ICDs, NISPOM, and facility operating procedures.
              Must be able to communicate visually and verbally with others effectively during both normal and emergency operations.
              Occasional lifting and moving of equipment and supplies with weight of up to 25-30 pounds.
