              Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

              The Assistant Research Professor will be required to assist the Principal Investigator with the successful execution of an extramurally-funded research program in the laboratory. The specific responsibilities include designing, executing and analyzing experiments aimed at research involving vector-borne infections including Lyme disease as well as Vector Biology. Additional and general job responsibilities include the presentation of scientific data and preparation of manuscripts, as well as routine assistance with maintenance of laboratory animals, instruments and inventories.

              Minimum Qualifications:

              Ph.D. degree.
              The successful candidates will have a strong background of research in one or more of the following fields: Microbiology and Immunology, Vector Biology, Infectious Disease, or Molecular and Cellular Biology.

              Preferences:

              Highly motivated and creative scientists with a good publication record and a strong interest in pursuing the molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate tick immune responses and microbial virulence. Previous working experience in CRISPR or any other gene-editing tools, animal and cell culture models of infectious agents is a plus.

              While performing the essential functions of the job, the faculty operates a computer and other office devices such as telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; constantly moves about multiple facilities and the campus.
