Under general supervision, provides support to the campus in all aspects of the maintenance, repair, and renovation of structural systems. As assigned, functions in an on-site lead capacity over small crews, to assist with building maintenance and renovation work at multiple sites throughout campus including demolition and construction of ceilings, walls, and partitions; and basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work. Performs miscellaneous demolition and site clearance including removal of debris. Completes both renovation and maintenance structural work tasks.

Five years progressively responsible experience in the trade(s) where assigned to include at least two years in a lead or supervisory capacity.

High school diploma or GED.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Comprehensive knowledge of and skill in the methods and techniques of all construction related trades including working knowledge of electrical and plumbing trades and applicable codes. Ability to apply trade skills to a variety of maintenance, repair and renovation projects, to use and maintain applicable tools/equipment, and to communicate effectively both in oral and written form. Must follow NEC codes and standards, OSHA and MOSH safety standards and precautions, building security procedures, and safety regulations, as well as those procedures outlines by the University. Must adhere to all applicable State, University and departmental personnel policies and procedures. Ability to lead others and train less skilled workers.

Must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver’s license or equivalent with fewer than six points.

Incumbent will work a 4-day/10-hour shift (either M/TH or T/FRI). Shift assignment is subject to change. Must be willing/able to work a flexible shift and be available in times of emergency – position is Essential-Catastrophic and subject to a 24-hour day, 7-day week span of operation. Must be able to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and under fixed equipment and machinery; to work from ladders and scaffolding up to 35 feet; to manipulate heavy equipment/tools; to work in hazardous or irritating environments; and to wear and work in personal protective equipment (including safety footwear provided by the University). Must be able to lift or exert force up to 70lbs.
Incumbent will be required to provide their own small hand tools; list provided at time of employment. The University is not responsible for the replacement or repair of lost, stolen or damaged tools or personal property.
